Connie Achman recently joined X-Cel Optical as the vice president of sales and marketing. Achman succeeds John Miller, who retired at the end of January after 17 years at

the company. Achman brings more than 20 years of industry experience to the position, including 14 years spent at Transitions Optical in a variety of sales, marketing, and business development roles.

After 29 years in practice, John Metzger, OD, has added low vision to his practice. He recently held an open house at his newest location, VisionRecovery KC in Kansas City, Kan. Invited guests included local dignitaries, area optometrists, ophthalmologists, and occupational

therapists, as well as executives from Oculi Vision Rehabilitation LLC (OVR), a Nebraska-based full-service provider of turnkey low vision programs that helped Metzger set up his low vision practice.

Vistakon, a division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., teamed up with some of today�s stars to give teens an inside look at the experiences that led to their fame. The series aired nationally in December. ACUVUE is also hosting  the site www.celebrity.acuvue.com, where viewers can replay their favorite moments and download an ACUVUE trial pair certificate.Ion-Ray founder James Park tested his ion polarized frames for sinus and migraine relief in a double-blind crossover study of 20 sinus pain sufferers. The frame was found to be to be an average of 2.5 times more effective than placebo alone. Indo has reorganized its management structure and created the World Sales Unit, which will be responsible for sales of all group products and services. Emilio Calabuig will manage the new unit.

Shamir has announced new reimbursement denominations for its occupational and progressive lenses under the ReCreating Perfect Vision program. Through June 30, the program will pay the following amounts to all ECPs meeting the program�s requirements: Office will pay $6 per pair; Piccolo, Genesis, and Creation (clear or Transitions) will pay $12 per pair; and Autograph and Attitude (clear or Transitions) will pay $15 per pair.
