EDGING WITH ATTITUDE
New from Briot USA (a brand of the Luneau Technology Group) is Attitude, an edging system with features, including Shack-Hartmann wavefront power mapping technology, that increase ease of use and broaden the scope of capabilities for opticians. By touching the screen on any point of the lens, users can see the measured power and even lay the final lens shape over the wavefront-based power map of the lens, ensuring the best optics.
Other key features include state-of-the-art tracing, faster centering and blocking, minimal noise, simplified drilling and shape modification, and a color-coded data-input system to minimize errors.
The Attitude also combines high-definition optical tracing and the ability to manually trace frames. Powered by GraviTech Technology, Attitude combines a rotating diffuse reflecting plate with a high-speed camera and savvy engineering, resulting in the best possible contouring of shapes and drill holes.
The high-resolution camera is also able to detect the hidden laser marks on lenses, enabling the user to see whether the printing on the lens is accurate and to review the Add power of the lens and other data, such as lens design.

A SMART INSERT
Rochester Optical has launched its new Rx insert for the Sony SmartEyeglass. The frame-insert design complements the sleek device, which cannot fit over existing eyeglasses. The insert pops easily in and out, making it possible for one device to be shared by multiple users, such as in occupational settings.
The prescription lenses in the insert are highly specialized. Smart GOLD lenses (also available for Epson Moverio BT-200, Vuzix M100, Recon Jet, and Google Glass) minimize eyestrain and eye fatigue, and eliminate prismatic effect and off-axis aberrations, providing continuous, comfortable visual acuity, according to the company.

LANE-IN-A-BOX
Vmax Vision, Inc., offers Perfectus, which combines the clinical benefits of its PSF Refractor, the space-saving virtues of its Integro refractor, and the advantages of a built-in wavefront autorefraction. The new unit requires only a 3-by-4-foot space, not a 16-foot lane.
The Perfectus raises the gold standard of refraction from 20/20 to 20/12, and it can be achieved in less than one minute per eye, the company notes. It also measures a patient’s subjective visual response to a point spread function target, enabling a precise refraction to 0.05D.

SOFTWARE ANALYTICS
Eyefinity and Gateway Professional Network (GPN) have teamed up to create a business insights dashboard for OfficeMate, Eyefinity’s practice management solution. Powered by GPN’s The Edge, the analytics dashboard is embedded in the software and provides a quick overview of specific areas of the business. The dashboard tracks clinic and optical revenue, revenue per exam, capture rate, number of exams, number of optical units, average frame sale by optician, and account receivable data. It is available to existing customers in a service update called 12.0.3.

FOLDABLE MAGNIFIER
The MagniLink Zip video magnifier from Eschenbach is a full high-definition (FHD) system that can also be used to view distance objects—and folds down flat for easy transportation.
A highlight is the FHD system, which provides a flicker-free 1080p image. The monitor has an anti-glare coating, can move up and down and at an angle, and can also be used to view distance objects (like a whiteboard in school or an office) or near items.
