The Package Principle

Essilor of America has launched its Ultimate Lens Package (ULP)—a bundle of the company’s most advanced lens products together in one lens to help ECPs offer patients a single-lens solution, rather than individual technologies or as add-ons.

The ULP is offered in two versions:

The ULP Single Vision comprises Essilor’s blue light-filtering Eyezen+, a new and enhanced Crizal Sapphire 360 UV, and Transitions Signature VII.

The ULP Progressive comprises Essilor’s newly launched Varilux X Series progressive lens, Crizal Sapphire 360 UV, and Transitions Signature VII.

This new lens package features two products new to the Essilor lineup: the new Varilux X progressive lens design (reported here last month), and Crizal Sapphire 360° UV.

Crizal Sapphire 360° UV is the first AR treatment to feature Multi-Angular Technology, which reduces reflections from any angle of light. According to Essilor, the patent-pending AR nanolayer, which considers a 360-degree angle in the optical calculation, results in reduced reflections by 35-45% (compared with Crizal Avancé UV).

New Tribrid Availability

X-Cel Optical has added Tribrid lenses to its portfolio of lens offerings. X-Cel Optical is a wholly owned subsidiary of Essilor of America, Inc., and a division of its Independent Distribution Division.

Launched late last year by PPG Industries, Tribrid is a material that blends Trivex and high-index materials, resulting in a lens that provides the precision optics of high index with the light weight and impact resistance of Trivex.

Tribrid lenses are compatible with all frame styles, and with digital, free-form processing and AR coatings.

They are available from X-Cel Optical (as well as Essilor’s independent lab network) in clear hard-coated and uncoated spherical SFSV lenses optimized for digital surfacing.

Leader liquid lens cleaner, from Hilco Vision, is offering a new selection of seasonal lens cleaners—now available in four colorful label designs featuring landscapes of the four seasons.

Leader lens cleaner is safe for use on all anti-reflective coated lenses. It is available in four bottle sizes, and the labels can be customized with ECPs’ business name and information.

Fresh + Modern Edging

Coburn Technologies is adding to its Excelon family of finishing equipment with the release of the HPE-410 Excelon Lens Edging System.

Replacing the CPE-4000 Excelon edger, the new HPE-410 offers a fresh and modern design, with new features to keep up with the market’s finishing demands, according to the company. It is enhanced with a stronger wheel with longer durability, and eliminates lens slippage with an adaptive lens chuck and position sensor.

It can perform eight different types of edging, including several types of bevel and grooving and rimless drilling. Other features include six types of edging positions, four retouch options, bar code reading, and multiple-job handling with concurrent processing.

The HPE-410 is available with a built-in tracer, or with the tracer as an add-on.

Updated Lensometer App

EyeNetra has released an app update for its Netrometer (a hand-held, smart phone-based lensometer). With the update, the app now includes a live view for progressives and bifocals, as well as improvements to the Smart Stage (a stabilizing accessory for the Netrometer) while in multifocal modes.

The live view allows users to watch measurements from the lensometer change in real time as the eyeglasses move, and the new see-through interface lets users capture measurements in the precise location desired.
