BUSINESS UPDATES
Healthy Eyes Advantage, Inc., completed the second phase of its initiative to increase support of independent optometry through partnership arrangements with the state optometric associations of Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, and New Jersey. Along with four similar arrangements announced in March, 13 enhanced partnership agreements are finalized with more expected.
AWARDS
The California Lab Committee named Norm Kester, president of ophthalmic coatings company Quantum Innovations, Inc., as the recipient of the 2020 Goodfellow Award, which recognizes a lab executive or business leader who contributes to advancing the optical industry.
CooperVision announced the recipients of its new Best Practices Scholarship, offered to third-year optometry students to help them learn from some of the best in optometry: Matthew Barnes, New England College of Optometry; Christina Cherny, SUNY College of Optometry; and Matthew Howell, Chicago College of Optometry.
MISCELLANEOUS
The NRF Foundation, the educational arm of the National Retail Federation, is offering its introductory RISE Up course at no charge through June 12 to train individuals with foundational skills needed to secure jobs in the retail space and beyond.
◄ SightGlass Vision announced results of a 12-month interim analysis of the trial evaluating its novel eyeglasses designed to slow the progression of myopia in children. Data from the clinical trial (CYPRESS, NCT03623074) showed that both test arms demonstrated a reduction in myopia progression.
