In this very special issue of EB—one celebrating our own 35th anniversary—we turn the spotlight on 11 incredibly passionate, groundbreaking men and women—optometrists, opticians, and eyecare professionals—who helped usher in forward-thinking positive change in the vision care world in the face of the ongoing pandemic and crucial business challenges in 2021.
Their focus runs across many causes and initiatives—from unpacking innovative omnichannel solutions and delivering support and tools for other optometrists and opticians to a laser focus on raising the bar on diversity, equity, and inclusion in the vision care arena.
The #EBGameChanger awards, celebrated across the industry, debuted in 2018 and we are proud to introduce you to—and share the inspiring stories of—the 2021 awardees in our fourth annual #EBGameChanger Awards feature, starting on page 50.
Again this year, the 2021 awardees were photographed virtually by top Los Angeles photographer Jurgen Reisch, who worked with our team and the award winners utilizing the CLOS photo app to use the awardees’ iPhones to step into their homes and offices and set up the shots and press the shutter remotely.
And, there’s more! This issue is packed with additional content to help your business thrive into the new year:
Turn to page 72 for The 2022 Economic Outlook for ECPs, where Brian Beaulieu, CEO of ITR Economics, outlines what’s ahead and how to prepare.
His sage advice for ECPs? Be ready for more—and do not stand still.
Turn to page 30 for our Staff Training column on Immersion Therapy, which delves into how to train staff to be well-versed in your omnichannel solutions.
We hope you enjoy this important issue of EB!
