Unity Via II Progressive Lenses
Building upon its Unity Via designs, VSP Optics has introduced Unity Via II Progressive Lenses. According to the company, the more advanced Unity Via II suite maintains simple dispensing for eyecare professionals while delivering a high-quality visual experience to progressive lens wearers.
The new suite of everyday progressives includes larger reading and intermediate fields, designed to enhance visual comfort when using digital devices. VSP Optics shares that these wider, sharper fields enhance acuity and comfort, allowing wearers to easily adapt to the lenses and see clearly at all distances.
The enhanced portfolio comprises Unity Via Elite II, Unity Via Plus II, Unity Via Wrap II, Unity Via Mobile II, and Unity Via II. According to VSP Optics, Unity Via Elite II is the balanced progressive that “checks all the boxes,” Unity Via Plus II is for patients who require options for personalization, Unity Via II offers smooth visual progression in a base lens, Unity Via Mobile II is ideal for patients who use digital devices for four or more hours a day, and Unity Via Wrap II is for patients who prefer a curved or wrapped frame.

GentleDrop
Designed to eliminate the guesswork of aiming eye drops, Robert Kinast, M.D., and Ashely Hayden, M.D., teamed up to invent GentleDrop.
GentleDrop is a sleeve made of reusable silicone that fits over most cylindrical 5-mL, 10-mL, and 15-mL eye drop bottles. According to the company, when placed on the bridge of the nose, the device positions the bottle tip over the eye.
After designing a prototype from modeling clay, Dr. Kinast won a grant from the American Glaucoma Society to test his design. A clinical trial of 50 patients at the Devers Eye Institute showed that 47 out of 50 preferred using GentleDrop over the bottle alone, and it significantly reduced bottle tip trauma to the eye and drops wasted.
