Mini-Me Styling
The Lacoste eyewear collection, available from Marchon, introduces a “mini-me” sunglass style, a new sunglass for kids (L3644S) and a matching version for adults (L966S).
Illustrating the brand’s sporty and comfortable appeal, the colorful sunglass styles feature the Lacoste logo and striping in white along the temple.
Pictured is the Lacoste L3644S, based on the brand’s Active Line concept. The style is available in matte colorways of black, green, blue, and red.
Japanese Heritage
Charmant launches its new brand, Minamoto, translating in Japanese to “origin.”
Minamoto aims to celebrate authenticity and high-quality craftsmanship with eight ophthalmic frames constructed from 99.4% pure Japanese titanium and temples made of beta-titanium for comfort and flexibility.
The collection, which took home a prestigious iF Design Award this year in the product category, houses a Japanese kanji logo, handmade by a calligrapher working for Charmant. The logo appears on the titanium end tips of all styles, which are inspired by prominent characters of the popular Japanese movie “The Seven Samurai.”
Pictured is the Minamoto Akira MN31003, featuring an anti-slip epoxy at the bridge to keep the frame in place on the wearer.
FRESH CUTS
◄ The Ray-Ban Stories style from EssilorLuxottica has been awarded in two renowned design competitions: the iF Design Awards and Red Dot Design Awards. The smart glasses received iF Design Award recognition in the user experience discipline and the gold award in the product discipline. Ray-Ban Stories also received the Red Dot “Best of the Best” award.
L’Amy America announced a partnership with Stand for the Silent, an organization created to end bullying. L’Amy America’s second “Do Good, Feel Good” promotion of the year, which runs from May 1 through Aug. 31, will donate a portion of its proceeds to Stand for the Silent’s anti-bullying mission.
Marchon Eyewear announced a new collaboration with Eastman, a global specialty materials company. Marchon shares it will be the first global eyewear company to use Eastman’s Tritan Renew for both frames and tinted lenses in the same eyewear in its sunwear collections across its broad portfolio.
Serengeti has launched its first augmented reality experience on Instagram, designed to allow consumers to both “try on” its sunglasses and experience the brand’s exclusive lens technology.
Spotlight on Sustainability
Jack Quaid and Erin Moriarty, co-stars of the Amazon Prime series “The Boys,” rock Rag & Bone’s spring/summer 2022 eyewear collection, available from Safilo, in the brand’s latest campaign, in which the stars captured fun and spontaneous imagery on their personal iPhones.
For SS22, Rag & Bone eyewear introduces its first sustainable styles manufactured from high-quality bio-acetate. In addition, three sunglass styles feature eco-friendly lenses.
Here, Moriarty (left) sports the Rag & Bone RNB1055/S and Quaid dons the Rag & Bone RNB 6001/S, which emphasize sustainability with bio-acetate constructs, iconic dagger hardware made from recycled aluminum, and lenses composed of plant-based resins.
The new collection will receive further exposure via an interactive Instagram filter, in which users can discover six Rag & Bone eyewear styles.
Commitment to Recycling
Paradigm, available from Kenmark Eyewear, launches its International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC)-certified eyewear collection utilizing Eastman Acetate Renew and Eastman Tritan Renew materials.
Kenmark shares that it’s the first independent eyewear company to achieve ISCC PLUS certification in the U.S, making this collection a special display of its commitment to sustainability.
“We feel extremely proud to be a part of the change happening in the eyewear industry where accountability and transparency are key factors in the production process,” says Kenmark creative director Mallory Fagan.
Paradigm’s campaign and collection for spring draws inspiration from the 1970s, featuring a laid-back appeal and throwback-influenced silhouettes.
