May 13, 2021 — BostonSight, a nonprofit eye health care organization and research center, has announced the election of Howard Purcell, O.D., FAAO, and Ron Remy, MBA, to the BostonSight board of directors.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Purcell and Mr. Remy to the board,” says Sara Yost, BostonSight president and CEO.“ “BostonSight will benefit from their wealth of experience in private practice, academia, the optometric industry, and technology management.”  

Dr. Purcell, the current president and CEO of the New England College of Optometry, was recently named as a 2020 #EBGameChanger for his resonating impact to the vision care industry. Dr. Purcell began his career in optometry in a group optometric practice. In 1991, he joined the faculty of Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, where he served as a a principal in the development of the Department of Cornea and Contact Lenses. Dr. Purcell has held other prominent industry roles including senior vice president of customer development for Essilor of America and senior director of professional affairs for Johnson & Johnson Vision Care. Mr. Remy brings more than 20 years of technology management and leadership experience to the BostonSight board. He currently serves as CEO at Mobile Heartbeat, a software company that aims to improve clinical collaboration by connecting patients’ care teams through a single, unified platform. Mr. Remy’s previous experience includes serving as a systems engineer for Sun Microsystems, president and CEO of Auspice Corporation, and COO of Modiv Media and BioMed 20/20 Technologies. He holds a BS in electrical engineering from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
