March 11, 2021 — As the Covid-19 pandemic enters its second year, the Centre for Ocular Research & Education (CORE) is releasing two infographics to help eyecare professionals continue ongoing patient communications regarding questions patients may have on proper eye care.
“Like many of our peers worldwide, CORE’s optometrists and clinical scientists have been hearing people’s confusion and concerns about their eyes in relation to Covid-19,” says CORE clinical scientist Alison Ng, Ph.D, BSc(Hons), MCOptom, FAAO. “Addressing the most frequent should help patients and their families maintain healthy vision while remaining safe.”
The infographics, which focus on reasons to urgently contact an eyecare professional during Covid-19 (above) and common steps being taken to ensure safe in-office exams, are available for download for free here.
In addition, Dr. Ng and fellow CORE clinical scientist Mike Yang, O.D., BSc, FAAO, have authored a consumer-facing article in collaboration with The Conversation, a nonprofit, independent news organization that features content from academic experts.
The article, titled “Why You Shouldn’t Neglect Eye Care During the Covid-19 Pandemic,” is being distributed to major mainstream news outlets around the globe.
“Through our new infographics and feature story, we hope that eyecare professionals will be able to spread the word even further in their communities,” says Dr. Ng.
