March 11, 2021 — National optical retailer Eyemart Express has announced the introduction of a flexible payment option, available to its store nationally by the end of March.

Sunbit's “buy now, pay later” (BNPL) option provides consumers with a three-month, no interest plan to buy eyewear from Eyemart Express. The company has shared that flexible payments can also be applied to upgrades like UV coatings and progressive lenses and that shoppers can be approved for the BNPL option in a minimum of 30 seconds.

"We are constantly focused on improving our customers' lives by helping them see better with new glasses and now by relieving a potential financial burden with a new payment option,” says Eyemart Express CEO Michael Bender. “The Sunbit model is aligned with our convenience-focused service that makes the process of getting new glasses fast and easy.”

Six-month and one-year BNPL interest-bearing plans through Sunbit are also available for shoppers who would like additional time to make payments. Eyemart Express has shared that due to state restrictions, its stores in West Virginia and Wyoming are not currently eligible for the BNPL technology.

“We’re so pleased to have been selected by Eyemart Express to bring BNPL to their customers,” says Idan Tzror, Sunbit’s head of retail operations. “We’re focused on improving the buying and selling process for merchants and consumers in local communities…We were able to train 30 associates a day—in person—so that they can now confidently offer their customers the option to buy now, and pay over time when checking out.”

In three months since the launch of its partnership with Sunbit, Eyemart Express has shared that the company’s seen nearly 90% of customers approved for payment plans through Sunbit technology, and that customers who choose to BNPL over time spend more than customers who choose to pay with cash or traditional credit cards.
