Jan. 28, 2021 — Hilco Vision has released a new white paper: “Frame Materials & Cleaning Solutions—A Compatibility Study,” amid the Covid-19 pandemic and its effects on how eyecare professionals deliver services to their patients.
The company’s latest research reveals that 82% of patients surveyed expect eyewear to be sanitized prior to trial fitting.
The study tested more than 30 frame materials, including primary materials such as acetate, stainless steel, nylon, and more, and secondary materials like nose pads, painted surfaces, acrylic lenses, etc.
Each cleaning solution in the test was exposed to the frames directly in a series of short and longer-term exposures. The general criteria for the cleaning solutions tested included: effectiveness as a cleaning agent, general availability on the market, ease of handling/use & storage, availability in a variety of dispensing forms, natural/sustainable profiles, and general material compatibility profiles.
For the full conclusion, including which solutions may be damaging to eyewear and which are safe, download the free white paper at the bottom of the page here: hilcovision.com/lp/sanitization.
