March 18, 2021 — The VSP Global Premier Program has announced two upcoming webinar opportunities for supporting optometrists to earn no-cost, live, COPE-approved CE credit.
Titled “Focus on Diabetes: An Overview for Optometrists,” the diabetes-focused webinar was developed in partnership with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and qualifies attendees for 60 points toward the ADA Badge, which, once earned, displays on the VSP “Find a Doctor” directory.
VSP has shared that the webinar content was developed exclusively for VSP-network doctors—focusing on diabetes prevalence, risks, diagnosis, management and prevention, and emphasizes the role of eyecare professionals on the diabetes care team. It’s presented by Paul Chous, MA, O.D., FAAO, of Chous Eye Care Associates in Tacoma, WA, and Western University of Health Sciences, in Pomona, CA, and Amy Butts, MPAS, PA-C, CDCES, BC-ADM, of Wheeling Hospital, in Wheeling, WV.
The course will be offered on March 25, coinciding in the same week as Diabetes Alert Day (March 23), which is recognized to inform the public of the seriousness of diabetes and to take action, including scheduling a comprehensive eye exam with their local eye doctor and taking the ADA’s Risk Test. A live encore of the webinar will be held on May 11.
Optometrists can participate in the webinar on either date, or sign up for the Premier Academy360 eLearning platform to take the course online at their convenience.
