Dec. 19, 2024 — EssilorLuxottica has announced an agreement to acquire Espansione Group, an Italian company specializing in the development and production of noninvasive medical devices. These devices, which are protected by international patents, are designed for diagnosing and treating conditions such as dry eye, ocular surface disorders, and retinal diseases.

Espansione Group operates in more than 40 countries and is known for its advancements in photobiomodulation technology, including Light Modulation low-level light therapy and intense pulsed light technology.

“This investment, proudly made in one of our home countries, will expand our portfolio of medical devices,” says Francesco Milleri, chairman and chief executive officer at EssilorLuxottica. “EssilorLuxottica’s med-tech journey, aimed at elevating vision health standards, will continue to be an open and collaborative one, where our products and services are accessible to all industry players.”

The transaction is subject to regulatory review and other customary closing conditions.
