Jan. 8, 2025 — The American Academy of Optometry has announced a call for course proposals for the educational programming of Academy 2025 Boston, set to take place Oct. 8-11. Submissions are open through Jan. 31 at 5 p.m. ET.
The lectures and workshops committee is seeking new and innovative course topics, interprofessional collaborations with other health care disciplines, and small-group, interactive formats. A highlight of the upcoming program is the Academy Classroom Exchange (ACE), a new course type designed to foster discussion between presenters and attendees through interactive components.
Educators and practitioners can submit up to four course proposals, provided at least one is a workshop or an ACE course. The available course formats include traditional lecture, rapid-fire lecture, ACE course, and workshop.
In addition to these, individuals may also submit up to three case proposals for Grand Rounds sessions, an opportunity that offers a platform for first-time presenters to gain experience.
Courses are expected to provide evidence-based information that enhances optometric patient care. Submissions should avoid promoting products or corporate interests, and priority will be given to Academy Fellows in cases of competitive topics.
