Vision Source, a national network of private practice optometrists as part of EssilorLuxottica, hosted more than 3,000 member doctors, staff, and industry partners at The Exchange 2025, its annual meeting held this year in Denver. Under the theme “Ascend,” the event featured leadership updates, educational programming, and vendor exhibits.
A key moment of the event was the joint appearance of Vision Source founder Glenn Ellisor, OD, and newly appointed president Amir Khoshnevis, OD, marking the first time in over a decade that Vision Source has been led by a practicing optometrist. Dr. Khoshnevis, a longtime member and administrator, outlined a strategic vision focused on patient outcomes, practice support, and adapting to industry trends such as an aging population, expanded scope of optometric practice, and technological integration. He expressed the importance of the Beyond Your Eyes campaign, an initiative focused on redefining comprehensive care and strengthening the patient journey through four pillars: Attract & Retain, Patient Experience, Trusted Relationships, and Comprehensive Health Care.
“Technology and humanity must work hand in hand,” says Dr. Khoshnevis. “With deeper investments in education, diagnostics, and strategic vendor partnerships, we’re enabling smarter, faster, and more compassionate care.”
The conference agenda included more than 100 educational sessions and workshops for optometrists and staff, covering clinical protocols, business management, and innovations in patient care. The event also recognized “member champions” for contributions to practice development and hosted interactive presentations to gather attendee feedback.
The exhibit hall featured more than 100 vendors, highlighting new products, services, and med-tech solutions. Vision Source reported a 20% cumulative growth among its member practices over the past three years and announced that, in 2024, it became the first optical network to surpass $3 billion in combined member practice revenue.
The Exchange 2025 emphasized peer collaboration, practice growth strategies, and the advancement of private optometry through clinical and business innovation.
“The true power and promise of independent optometry was on full display at The Exchange this year,” says Fabrizio Uguzzoni, president of professional solutions Americas at EssilorLuxottica. “With campaigns like ‘Beyond Your Eyes’ and continued advancement in med-tech, we’re not just imagining the future of eyecare—we’re building it together.”
“Ascend isn’t just a theme—it’s our mission,” says Dr. Khoshnevis. “To elevate patients, practices, and the profession we love.”
