CooperVision is continuing its optometric education initiatives through its Student Contact Lens and Myopia Leadership Society, a yearlong professional development program for optometry students focused on clinical training and leadership skills.
As part of the program, CooperVision recently held its 2026 Summit at the company’s global headquarters in Victor, New York. The event brought together participating students for workshops on toric, multifocal, and myopia management contact lenses, with an emphasis on fitting techniques and evidence-based practice. Small-group sessions were also included to support discussion and clinical problem-solving.
Students attending the summit toured CooperVision’s Rochester-area manufacturing and distribution facilities, where they observed contact lens production and global distribution processes.
The program also incorporated sessions on professional development topics such as wellness, communication, leadership pathways, and career planning. Panel discussions and networking opportunities connected students with company representatives and peers.
Participants in the program are selected second- and third-year optometry students from schools in the United States and Canada, nominated by faculty for 1-year ambassador roles. The initiative includes hands-on education, leadership training, and exposure to industry practices.
“The program is designed to help students build confidence, develop leadership skills, network with future leaders, and prepare for long-term success in the profession,” said Steve Rosinski, OD, senior manager of professional affairs, Northeast, CooperVision.
