Charmant USA Inc. announced that Northeast US Regional Manager Barry Mazel will retire at the end of June 2026 after a 46-year career in the optical industry, including 29 years with the company. Mazel joined Charmant on June 18, 1997, and played a key role in the company's growth and customer relationships throughout the Northeast region. During his tenure, he received multiple company honors, including Northeast Regional Manager of the Year awards in 2013, 2023, and 2025. Charmant shared it has prepared for the leadership transition and that business operations in the Northeast will continue without interruption following Mazel’s retirement.
Latinos en Optometry has appointed Elizabeth Escobedo, OD, FAAO, FSLS, to its Board of Directors. Dr. Escobedo is an associate professor at Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry. She completed a residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry and is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Optometry and the Scleral Lens Education Society. Latinos en Optometry said Dr. Escobedo has previously served as a resource to the organization and will bring additional experience and perspective to its leadership as it continues its mission to increase awareness of optometry, support culturally mindful eye care, and encourage students to pursue careers in the profession.

Cutler and Gross has appointed Europa Eyewear as its exclusive distribution partner for North America. As part of the transition, the brand’s existing North American sales team will move from Marchon to Europa Eyewear. The move also establishes a new Independent Luxury Division within Europa. The companies reported that the transition is already underway and that account support and business operations will continue without disruption.
