The Professional Eye Care Associates of America (PECAA) announced a donation of more than $60,000 to Urban Surf 4 Kids, a San Diego-based nonprofit serving youth in foster care and at-risk communities. The contribution was revealed during PECAA’s recent 2026 Annual Meeting.
According to PECAA, the donation is the largest made through its charitable giving initiative, PECAA Gives, surpassing the program’s previous record set in 2025. Since its launch in 2016, PECAA Gives has contributed more than $280,000 to 11 youth-focused nonprofit organizations in cities that have hosted the association’s Annual Meeting.
Founded in 2009, Urban Surf 4 Kids provides surf therapy, mentorship, and life-skills programs designed to support youth in foster care and underserved communities. The organization serves young people throughout San Diego and Orange counties.
“What stood out most about PECAA Gives was that this felt like much more than a donation,” said Urban Surf 4 Kids Executive Director Craig Jenkins. “Their team invested an incredible amount of heart, time, and creativity into supporting our mission, and every person involved seemed genuinely committed to the success of our youth and our organization.”
PECAA Gives was established in 2016 during the organization’s Annual Meeting in New Orleans, where the program’s first donation was made to the Edna Karr High School Marching Band. The initiative continues to support local nonprofits in communities that host PECAA’s annual event.
“Connection is at the center of everything we do at PECAA,” said PECAA Gives Program Manager Jenny Wiley, “and so presenting that big check to a local nonprofit during every Annual Meeting never gets old!”
