New 24-month data support the efficacy of SightGlass Vision’s DOT spectacle lenses for myopia control. Findings show that children ages 6 to 10 saved more than 1.00 D of myopia progression on average after 2 years of wear. The results build on the company's previously reported 12-month CATHAY study findings and were presented at the 2026 Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) Annual Meeting.
In the full study population of Chinese children ages 6 to 13, DOT lenses reduced average myopia progression by 0.78 D (67%) and axial length progression by 0.40 mm (62%) compared with conventional single-vision spectacle lenses after 2 years. Further, more than half (59%) of children wearing DOT lenses experienced 0.50 D or less of myopia progression over 2 years, compared with 19% of children wearing single-vision lenses—a statistically significant difference.
DOT lenses use contrast management technology, which incorporate light-scattering elements to reduce retinal contrast signaling. According to the company, the CATHAY findings add to a growing body of evidence that support this nondefocus approach to myopia management.
SightGlass Vision also highlighted 2 additional studies presented at ARVO 2026: One found no significant association between pupil size and myopia progression in children wearing DOT lenses over 12 months. Another reported that children demonstrated viewing behavior comparable to that of single-vision lens wearers across a range of everyday activities.
DOT lenses are currently available commercially in China, Canada, Israel, Spain, and the United Kingdom. SightGlass Vision, founded in 2016, operates as a joint venture between CooperVision, Inc. and Essilor International.
