VSP Vision announced that applications are open for the 2027 VSP Future Leaders Academy, a 9-month professional development program designed for recent optometry school graduates and early-career optometrists. Applications will be accepted through July 31.
“Following a successful inaugural year and continued momentum into 2026, we’re honored by the strong, positive reception from last year's graduates and the growing interest in the VSP Future Leaders Academy,” said VSP Vision Senior Director of Doctor Relations Quy Nguyen, OD. “We’re proud to support the next generation of doctors through this unique program that expands their knowledge of both the clinical and business sides of eye care, while elevating their leadership abilities and optometric careers.”
The curriculum includes one-on-one mentorship with experienced optometrists, small-group leadership discussions, business and financial education sessions, and networking opportunities. Participants are also required to complete a capstone project, which they present before graduating at VSP Vision’s headquarters in Rancho Cordova.
Alex Bennett, OD, a participant who practices in the Los Angeles area, said the program provided opportunities to build professional relationships and share experiences with peers at similar stages in their careers.
VSP Vision said the Future Leaders Academy is part of its broader support for the optometric profession. The company reported that it has repaid more than $3 million through its student loan repayment program and awarded more than $4 million in scholarships to optometry students.
Eligible candidates may apply for the 2027 Future Leaders Academy through July 31.
