Vision health
The proactive approach builds awareness
By Vision Council of America
According to Melton, "Most eyecare professionals believe that they are doing enough to educate their patients on eye health. However, evidence shows that the vision community is not doing their job to sufficiently raise vision health awareness."
Reporting on a study conducted by the Juneau Practice Management Institute, which included a random sampling of 90,000 optometry patients, Melton noted that the findings revealed that the average eyeglass patient has an eye exam once every 47.6 months. The study also found that within six weeks, 46 percent of these patients forgot when their doctor told them to come back for an eye exam.
At the seminar, Soltis also discussed techniques on incorporating the Check Yearly. See Clearly. campaign into eyecare professionals' efforts in raising vision health awareness.
Eyecare professionals who are interested in taking part in the Check Yearly campaign can order the Check Yearly Standard Kit online at www.checkyearly.com or by calling 800-424-8422. The kit, which holds all the most popular Check Yearly patient educational and promotional materials, is a must-have and will be sold at half price, for $80, in December.
