Car COMPARISONS
By Lindsey Aspinall Getz
Do you like to keep your garage spic-n-span—going as far as vacuuming it? You might be a Honda Accord owner. Perhaps you are a family-oriented person who values politeness. Your choice of car may be a Lexus LS sedan. A recent Forbes article reported that a person's selection of vehicle says more about them than what they think looks and drives nice. It might actually describe who they are as an individual. In light of this interesting theory, EB asked some of the top eyewear gurus which car's design most reflected their eyewear designs, and why.
BETSEY JOHNSON: JAGUAR |
---|
My eyewear is sleek, wearable, and as super-charged as the engine in my Jaguar convertible! |
CHRISTIAN ROTH & ERIC DOMÈGE: Bentley |
---|
A Bentley and our eyewear share these similarities: they are the highest-quality, powerful but not overpowering, only for those who really appreciate something special—and can afford it, and they are beautiful and trendsetting. In addition, both come in an elegant, sophisticated version, as well as a sporty version. The latest models of Bentleys have been an inspiration to the entire car industry. |
BLAKE KUWAHARA: Range Rover |
---|
If pressed to equate my design style with a car, it would have to be the one I drive, a Range Rover—black on black, of course! The Range Rover is full of contradictions, yet maintains a perfect balance between form and function. Very Yin and Yang: it's chic, yet functional; it's just as at home on the streets of Beverly Hills as it is on country backroads; it's exclusive, but not elitist; it's sophisticated, yet approachable; and, there is nothing whimsical or extraneous about it. I like to think that the eyewear I design is much the same. |
JHANE BARNES: Acura |
---|
My eyewear is like an Acura NSX. The body is lightweight and the shape is beautiful with angular, architectural lines. They are fun to take out on the town and I keep coming back for more. But unlike my favorite sports car, my eyewear is still in production! |
ROBERT MARC: ASTON MARTIN
My eyewear is comparable to an Aston Martin DB9. Robert Marc and DB9 customers are self-made, yet aren't showy about their wealth or status. They appreciate quality and craftsmanship and care more about the product than the name, preferring details over logos. Great design combines the finest quality materials and state-of-the-art technology, creating something that is beautiful and functional. Robert Marc eyewear and the DB9 both exemplify that level of commitment.
AMY SACKS: SAAB |
---|
I think my glasses are like a SAAB. Some rise to the the level of the convertible, some are more like the safe but stunning sedan. None say "look at me," but those who do look will find that you look fashionable and sleek and absent of any hint of trendiness or bling. Regarding quality and timelessness, it doesn't have to change year to year in appearance, nor do annoying rattles occur which drive you to abandon your car. Our customers are happy to wear a brand that does not spend millions each year to tout its qualities. |
