PixelOptics announced the addition of Tammy Blackwell as territory account manager for Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Her responsibilities include establishing PixelOptics-branded products within the optical retail community by working with PixelOptics distributor partner labs and conducting product training for ECPs and lab personnel. Colleen Riley, OD, of VISTAKON VISTAKON, Division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., has named Colleen Riley, OD, as vice president, professional development. Riley will lead the company's efforts to develop and implement strategies and programs that focus on professional and practice development for eyecare professionals. She will also oversee all activities for The Vision Care Institute. Ophthalmologist William H. Ehlers, MD, began serving as the 20th president of the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) on August 1. Ehlers has over 20 years of experience in the eyecare field. He is currently an associate professor at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, Conn. |

The Optometric Historical Society (OHS) will sponsor a "Reminisce-In" featuring speaker Alden N. Haffner, OD, PhD, former president of the SUNY College of Optometry, on Nov. 13 at the American Academy meeting in Orlando. The event is free to all Academy meeting attendees.
Fort Smith, Ark.–based lab Plunkett Optical can now manufacture Essilor of America's patented Crizal AR process in-house. The lab operates Essilor's proprietary equipment and process, with a remote daily certification to ensure quality, compliance, and consistency.
GOOD DEEDS
Prevent Blindness America (PBA) has partnered with OneSight, a Luxottica Group Foundation, to provide free eyeglass frames and prescription lenses at locations across the country. PBA's "Healthy Eyes Eyeglass Program" provides cards to individuals that can be used at any participating LensCrafters, Sears Optical, Target Optical, or select Pearle Vision locations.
The Essilor Vision Foundation announced that it will resume its California Adopt-A-School program at Russell Elementary in Santa Ana, Calif., this fall. The program helps underprivileged and uninsured children receive needed vision correction.

Eschenbach Optik of America recently celebrated its 25th year with a party for its employees and special guests. The evening featured dinner, a slideshow, and presentations by key members of management. Special recognition was given to company co-founders Jeff and Karen Moss.
Eschenbach Optik of America's 25th anniversary party took place at the historic Keeler Tavern in the company's hometown of Ridgefield, Conn.
