Carol Schartner, commercial services education and training manager, Transitions, is celebrating her 50th year of service in the optical industry. Optometry Giving Sight has named Glenn Ellisor, OD, and Stephen Schock, OD, FAAO, to its USA National Committee. Ellisor is the founder of Vision Source and has served as its president and chairman of the board since its inception in 1991. Schock is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a member of the the American Optometric Association. Modo appointed Kristen Aronsson as its new creative director. She will oversee the Modo creative team in the design and development of the Modo, Derek Lam, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and 7 For All Mankind collections. Vittorio Tabacchi was re-elected as president of ANFAO and Mido during the annual general meeting held at the headquarters of Assindustria in Belluno. Tabacchi was president of ANFAO for the 2001 to 2003 and 2007 to 2009 two-year periods. Roger D. Pabst, OD, of Redwood Falls, Minn., was elected to a four-year term on the board of directors of the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry (ARBO). He has been a member of the American Optometric Association since 1975. Susy Yu, OD, currently vice president of the California Board of Optometry, was elected by the ARBO House of Delegates to serve as an ARBO board of director. Also elected were officers William Rafferty, OD (N.C.), president; Jerry Richt, OD (Tenn.), vice president; Michael W. Ohlson, OD (Iowa), secretary treasurer; and Christina M. Sorenson, OD (Ariz.), immediate past president. |

The American Optometric Association Paraoptometric Section announced its annual award recipients at the 112th Annual AOA Congress and 39th Annual AOSA Conference: Optometry's Meeting, held in Washington DC. Diana L. Sweet was named Paraoptometric of the Year and Barb Wohlk received both the Community Service Award and the Pennsylvania Paraoptometric Association-State Affiliate Membership award.
