“Here at The Eye Center at Jackson, we as a team are committed to providing state-of-the-art, patientfocused eyecare,” explains solo optometrist Rajeev Raghu, OD. “Our promise is to ensure a positive environment of honesty, respect, integrity, and ethics. Located in Jackson, N.J., The Eye Center at Jackson is a 10-year-old family practice. Dr. Raghu, along with nine staff members, applies that practice mission statement to all aspects of the business.
EMBRACING TECHNOLOGY
To deliver on its promises, the practice is devoted to being a progressive business—one that embraces and utilizes technology, including the latest spectacle lens designs.
Explaining his forward-thinking approach, Dr. Raghu says, “We started with Varilux Physio Enhanced eyecode lenses in March 2011. Education—both of patients and employees—is critical,” stresses Dr. Raghu. “One day of in-office training with Essilor, along with further meetings and training once a week [with] the entire team, has helped us educate patients both from the exam chair and throughout the whole office.”
“It requires a team effort to have success,” he says. Talking about the Visioffice®, he explains, “It takes up to 20 different measurements providing a 3D representation of each eye's unique eye anatomy. Because those measurements include the eye's rotation center data, we can now create and deliver the most individualized lenses possible—Varilux Physio Enhanced eyecode™ lenses.”
The practice also offers Varilux Physio Enhanced Fit™ lenses, to complement its lens portfolio, which assure a unique visual experience based on the patient's frame measurements and, most important, his or her position of wear.
“We dedicate ourselves to offering the very best…regardless of price…which has led to our success. By offering the best, we have noticed an increase in referrals of patients wanting premium eyewear and our gross margins and net have increased by over 20 percent.”
SOLID MARKETING
This holistic approach is backed by solid marketing, which includes quarterly events. “One of the most successful is our ‘Designer for Eyewear Shows,’ adds Dr. Raghu. “We focus on internal marketing more than external, with a focus on awesome patient experiences.”
The practice also uses its website to educate patients and does, in fact, feature Varilux Physio Enhanced eyecode lenses on the site's home page.
The office also set up an online link through MyOnlineOptical from Essilor back in 2010.
Dr. Raghu explains that though most patients “prefer to have the frames on their face before purchasing, we do want them to have a larger selection of eyewear…virtually.”
