Work It!
Shamir Insight has released two new freeform designs, Shamir Computer and Shamir Workspace, each designed to provide solutions for patients’ specific occupational visual needs.
Shamir Computer provides a wide field of near viewing with clear vision up to five feet (deeper than that offered by conventional reading glasses), making it ideal for patients who are primarily stationary at their workstation throughout the day, or those who need wide, clear vision for any task performed within five feet.
Shamir Workspace is designed for patients who require a deeper field of vision, needing to focus on a desk as well as a colleague across the room, or a patient who is actively moving around the workplace. Workspace provides a depth of field of up to 10 feet.
Both lenses utilize Natural Posture, to help to eliminate neck pain, and IntelliCorridor, to control the power profile of the lens based on the wearer’s needs. They are available in 1.5 hard resin, DLC Trivex, 1.56 Blu-Tech, polycarbonate, and SuperLite 1.60.

New Lifestyles
HOYA Vision Care has launched two varieties of its HOYALUX iD Lifestyle 2 lenses, each designed to better meet the varying vision field needs of PAL-wearing patients.
iD Lifestyle 2 Clarity is a progressive lens design with its primary focus on maximizing distance vision, which can be more important to newer, more active progressive wearers in the 35 to 50 age range. iD Lifestyle 2 Harmony is designed to be the “go to” lens for more experienced PAL wearers who want the most comfortable distribution of powers across the primary viewing areas.
Both varieties offer a front surface curvature following the natural eye ball rotation for a natural progression between near and far; uniform addition on the front surface, counterbalanced on the back; HOYA’s Integrated Double Surface Design free-form technology; and stable image perception. No special fitting parameters are needed.
Clarity and Harmony lenses are available in a range of materials including polycarbonate, plastic, Phoenix, high-index, 1.60, and 1.67, as well as with Transitions and Suntech photochromic technologies.

What a View
Luzerne Optical Laboratories has announced the availability of its CrownView lenses. They are, according to Luzerne, the first premium glass progressive and single vision free-form lenses in the U.S.
CrownView has a soft progressive design that offers smooth power changes and low fitting heights to accommodate smaller frames that decrease weight, and the larger diameter progressive lens blanks offer greater cut-out availability. They are available in a large selection of glass materials and colors, including 1.523 Crown, 1.70, and 1.60; photochromic; polarized; and Ace amethyst contrast enhancement filter glass for sodium flare protection. They are also available with Luzerne’s in-house AR and mirror treatments. The lenses are available uncut or edged and mounted; and a lab-to-lab program is also available.

No-Touch Trace
Essilor Instruments USA’s new Iness T, part of the Triplets finishing equipment family, is a two-in-one device that combines optical tracing with accurate digital centering.
Essilor’s proprietary 3D OST software and a sophisticated infrared light system provide accurate traces, Essilor representatives say. Iness T creates 3D shapes by obtaining an optical image from any demo lens or pattern. The blocker has a parallax-free camera system and 3D compensation, and a wide working area for lens marking visualizations, even on dark tints.
