EDITOR’S LETTER
Split Personality
Ever wish there were two of you so you could do two things at once? For just three days, I wish I could. Don’t get me wrong. I love what I do. At a meeting like Vision Expo East, I get to see lots of great new product—interview interesting people, learn new technologies, and even get one heckuva workout walking from one appointment to another.
WOW FACTOR
So, why don’t I want to be me this month at Expo? Because there are so many terrific CE programs and fascinating speakers—some of whom we at EB are fortunate enough to sponsor as their media partner—and I really, really, really want to attend these sessions.
Though I probably can’t, I sure hope you will be able to take advantage of some of these not-to-be-missed programs. Here are just a couple of the speakers who are sure to knock your proverbial socks off.
Paco Underhill…I’ve been reading this retail guru’s books for 15 years, and at VEE, we are lucky enough to be the media sponsor for his course.
Then there’s The Ritz-Carlton’s Joseph Quitoni. Their customer service is legendary. Talk about learning from the best.
THE SCOOP
And, what better way to get the inside scoop on optical than at the State of the Industry session on Fri., March 20, at 7:15 a.m.? Presenters will include Essilor’s senior vice president Howard Purcell, O.D., and Holly Rush, president of Luxottica Wholesale, N.A.
For those of you lucky enough to be attending Vision Expo, you’ll get to listen, learn, and earn (CE, credit, that is). If you see me racing from point A to point B, I hope you’ll grab me and let me know which courses and new products you love the most.
Hope to see you in New York.
ON TRACK
Here are two of the many tracks of courses to consider as you’re planning your time at Vision Expo.
MANAGING THE BIZ
15 hours of education on the Visionomics track address the business of, well, your business. Dedicated to building revenue and securing the fiscal health of your practice or dispensing operation, topics range from tracking practice performance
to increasing your
capture rate.
THE BUYING BIZ
13 hours of Frame Buyer Certificate Program education will address everything from fashion trends and visual merchandising (an EB course with merchandising expert Travis Reed) to frame board management and The Big Picture (a look at what’s ahead with REM’s Mike Hundert, ClearVision’s David Friedfeld, Kenmark’s David Duralde, and FGX’s Corinne McCormack). Complete eight hours of classes in the program, and you’ll earn a Frame Buyer’s Certificate.
