A CLOSER LOOK
FLAT-TOP TRANSITIONS
Developed jointly by Transitions Optical and Younger Optics, Transitions Signature VII polycarbonate composite flat-top 28 lenses are now available, offered to the market exclusively by Younger Optics through its lab customers. The product allows more bifocal wearers to enjoy the photochromic performance of Transitions Signature VII lenses.
“There is still a significant demand in the market for segmented lenses, despite growing demand for progressive and digital designs. Now ECPs don’t have to find another option when those consumers request a Transitions brand lens.”
—CATHERINE RAUSCHER, Transitions Optical’s global director for lenscaster partners
David Rips, Younger Optics’ president and CEO, notes that dedicated research and development teams were able to develop “a polycarbonate composite lens that incorporates a unique photochromic front surface made of Trivex, delivering Transitions Signature VII performance in a product that is surfaced, polished, edged, and dispensed just like a clear polycarbonate lens.”
Transitions Signature VII polycarbonate composite flat-top 28 lenses are now available in gray.

NEW TECHNOLOGY
Santinelli International introduces the new Lex-1200 Lens Edger and Ice-1200 Blocker, featuring new technology and functions that will enable ECPs to process the latest in lens and frame designs.
At the heart of the units is an advanced high-curve tracer, featuring a variable fulcrum stylus that keeps its axis angle perpendicular to any frame curve. It reduces stylus pressure by 50%, eliminating the potential for distortion.
The Lex-1200’s “2.0” software offers faster processing speed, multiple custom bevel pre-sets, and a new asymmetrical bevel profile, permitting lenses to be fitted into sport frames.
The Ice-1200 blocker features an intuitive touchscreen and an Auto Lens Meter function for spot-on accuracy. Santinelli’s Integrated Shape Imager (ISI) facilitates drill data capture and has been revised to include partial step lens measurements of “suspension-lens” style sport frames.

TESTING TABLE
Presenta Nova’s new testing table has the flexibility to be located anywhere, and to serve a variety of patients. The table features an electric lift with a movable work top. A remote-controlled electrical lifting system built into the table provides easy adaptation to patients of various heights, including those in wheelchairs. An “info panel” provides the option of giving an interactive presentation of diagnostics as well as lenses. An additional feature is an integrated drawer for the optician. Just added to the testing table’s options is a privacy panel with remote-controlled “smart glass” technology that can provide a private atmosphere for optician or diagnostician and their patient—even if the testing table is located on or near the optical floor. Presenta Nova is partnering with the Luneau Technology group to pair its optical and diagnostic display solutions with Luneau’s diagnostic equipment.
