Fast Fashion: 4 Gen Y-Approved Trends
Millennial guru + wildly popular blogger Sarah Evans delivers the specs trends you need to know
Fashion as an expression of individuality is key for the “Me” Generation. “Millennials are an important market for fashion because they are trendsetters, not just followers,” explains Sarah Evans, a popular fashion and trendspotting blogger and Transitions Optical ambassador.
The difference from other generations? Gen Y style doesn’t get inspired by window displays; it is born online, in social media, and in a much more immediate, instant timeframe.
Here, Evans shares an enticing roundup of millennial-approved spring fashion trends in eyewear.

TREND #1: BOLD + BEAUTIFUL. Oversized frames will continue to be a trend. Whether it’s sunglasses or everyday frames, you can expect to see bold colors, stunning artwork, and strong geometric shapes.
TREND #2: FLOWERS. Spring is a time of bloom and growth, and that’s no different for eyewear. Many fashion-forward frames will feature subtle floral designs or even more noticeable (and sometimes removable) floral garnishments to complement the season.
TREND #3: AVIATORS. These sunnies aren’t just for flying planes. Aviators are getting a new twist, whether it’s the color of the metal or even rimless designs. And many will be putting in adaptive lenses so they can easily convert from indoor to outdoor use.
TREND #4: NEUTRALS. On the flip side of floral is the rise of nude, mustard, and other subtly colored frames. Spring will see a rise in this color trend as an enhancement to its traditional lighter colors.
