coco and Breezy are a twin sister design team—a rags-to-riches eyewear phenomenon—that produces coveted specs for everyone from urban hipsters to the rich and famous. The duo had even worked with the late musician Prince to design eyewear with him that he wore on tour. Here, Coco (right) and Breezy (left), who are also Transitions Optical ambassadors, sit down with EB to tell us more.
On Prince: The “3rdEYEGLASS” three-lens sunglasses were inspired by us sitting at Paisley Park with Prince—he said, “I want glasses with three lenses.” We actually spent a lot of time with him before we custom-made these glasses for him. We re-engineered the three-lens concept sunglasses for the public and call them “TRES.”
On Inspiration: Our design aesthetic is inspired by our love for innovation and art…we go to a lot of art exhibitions and museums. Our artwork always has geometric shapes, line work, and block colors.
On Design Roles: Breezy starts the original design/material selection of our eyewear, because she is very creative. Sometimes a little too creative, so that is when our GM, Duane, and I [Coco] adjust her design to be a salable product. We usually always see eye to eye…
