A CLOSER LOOK
Two Sides of Quality
Signet Armorlite, Inc. recently rebranded its Kodak lens line as the Kodak Lens Professional Series. It has now added a premier dual-side PAL design, Kodak DSII Progressive Lens, to that series.
This dual-side premium progressive lens is optimized for every progressive wearer, the company notes. It incorporates a specially crafted lens blank enhanced with multiple proprietary technologies (such as Kodak’s Vision First DS and i-Sync technologies), and, because it requires position-of-wear measurements, is fully customized to the patient and prescription. According to the company, the Kodak DSII provides the most personalized, natural-viewing experience available in the Kodak portfolio.
“In a highly competitive market, Kodak DSII Lens offers ECPs a solution to satisfy even the most demanding progressive wearer who accepts nothing but the best.”
—EDWARD P. DEROSA, executive vice president, Signet Armorlite, Inc.
Available in 26 lens materials and offering a large reading zone with corridor lengths of 13mm to 18mm, the design integrates the horizontal and vertical surfaces of both sides of the lens to provide a smooth wearing experience throughout the corridor as well as in the peripheral areas.

A Daily Plus
Alcon has extended its line of DAILIES TOTAL1 water gradient contact lenses to include plus power lenses for hyperopic patients.
According to Alcon, the lenses are engineered to mimic the environment of the cornea with a water content of almost 100% at the outermost surfaces. They are designed to combine the benefits of long-lasting comfort and breath-ability in one contact lens.
DAILIES TOTAL1 lenses are recommended for daily wear in a daily disposable modality, and are available with a power range of -0.50D to -6.00D (in 0.25 steps), -6.50D to -10.00D (in 0.50 steps), and now in plus powers from +0.50 to +6.00D (in 0.25D steps).

Digital Coolant
Satisloh is offering a new coolant, LH-405 Plus, that is formulated specifically for use with high-speed digital generators. The LH-405 Plus chemistry features a lubricity package (patent pending) that minimizes surface friction on lens materials for cleaner and more consistent milling and turning, the company notes.
Because LH-405 Plus coolant is bacteria resistant, it keeps users’ equipment growth-free and operating at the proper coolant flow rate.

New Sun PAL
The Varilux Stylistic has joined the C-SCAPE PAL in Costa Sunglass’ progressive lens portfolio, giving Costa wearers a choice in progressive lenses.
Varilux Stylistic lenses are specially designed to fit wrap frames and still offer wearers sharp and wide fields of vision. The wrap lenses take advantage of Essilor’s patented Wavefront Advanced Vision Enhancement (WAVE) technology to manage high-order aberrations.
Both the Varilux Stylistic and the C-SCAPE PAL lenses offer Costa’s multi-patented 580 color-enhancing lens technology, which selectively filters out harsh yellow and harmful high-energy ultraviolet blue light. Filtering yellow light enhances reds, blues, and greens, and produces better contrast and definition while reducing glare and eye fatigue. Absorbing high-energy blue light cuts haze, producing greater visual clarity and sharpness.
