Upgraded Spectrum
Shamir Insight has launched its newest Freeform design, Shamir Spectrum+. An upgraded version of the company’s Spectrum design, Spectrum+ is an everyday progressive lens but with a reading corridor up to 20% wider than a standard progressive. The intermediate zone is also wider, and the distance zone has been designed to be more stable as well.
The lens incorporates Shamir’s Natural Posture technology, which places the reading zone in exactly the correct location for each individual wearer, taking into account the plus or minus power of the prescription, thus reducing the need to tilt the head when reading.
Shamir Spectrum+ is available in 14mm, 16mm, and 18mm fitting heights in 1.50, Trivex, 1.56, SuperLite 1.60, SuperLite 1.67, PolyPlus, and SuperLite 1.74 in a variety of treatments, including Transitions Signature 7.

Layered Protection
Signet Armorlite has introduced KODAK Total Blue Lens featuring Color Guard Technology, a proprietary manufacturing process that combines the lens material and coatings to protect wearers from UV and harmful blue light.
The process starts with a special lens material that is able to absorb 100% of UV rays. A hard coat is applied for scratch resistance, and then a special multilayer blue light protective coating is applied to the front of the lens to help filter 80% of harmful HEV light. Additional layers on the backside provide protection from potential reflected UV rays, and a superhydrophobic layer is also added for easy cleaning.
In addition to the reduction of blue light exposure and a UV block, KODAK Total Blue Lens offers protection from the glare and reflection of digital screens, reducing eye fatigue and helping with object recognition and low-light conditions.
Clear lenses, with minimal residual color, are offered in Kodak’s progressive, single-vision, and computer/task-oriented designs. Polarized options (gray with blue mirrorlike finish) are also available for outdoor eyewear in both progressive and single-vision lens designs.

Blue-Filtering Poly
To address the eye health risk associated with high-energy visible (HEV) or blue light, VISION EASE has created the Clear Blue Filter lens, providing HEV protection in a clear, everyday polycarbonate lens.
Developed with protection built into the lens and not the coating, VISION EASE Clear Blue Filter lenses block 100% UVB and UVA and filter blue light to help protect eyes from harmful high-energy light. At 420 nanometers, they filter three times more blue light than standard polycarbonate lenses.
According to research sponsored by VISION EASE, 96% of consumers surveyed rated lens clarity as highly important in their lens choice.
The lens is available in semi-finished single vision with a range of -11.75 to +8.00 (to -4.00 cyl) and in finished single vision with a range of -8.00 to +4.00 (to -2.00 cyl).

Simplicity Reinvented
The new Delta 2 from Essilor Instruments USA is a compact edging system that combines high-performance features within an easy-to-use design.
This small-footprint edging system handles functions that are traditionally performed by two or three instruments (tracer, center/blocker, edger). Delta 2 also carries comfortable ergonomic improvements, including “natural posture positioning” to reduce muscular stress, and the built-in functions that eliminate the need for the operator to move from one piece of equipment to another.
The edger’s new “Place and Trace” 3D technology uses automatic optical shape tracing to quickly produce a pattern based on demo lenses, recut lenses, and even tinted lenses; pre-position drill holes; and center/block any kind of lens (including recuts). Thanks to its fully parallel workflow, users are able to prepare a new job while edging a lens at the same time without any restriction.
Delta 2 is available in three feature configurations to meet any practice’s need.
