As the founder of Luminance Vision Optometry (LVO) in Lafayette, CA, as well as the creator of the Eye Like Fashion blog, Mei Fleming, O.D., believes that eye care should be a unique, memorable, and style-centric experience.

“At an early age, I enjoyed performing ‘makeovers’ on my friends,” says Dr. Fleming. “Optometry naturally falls in line with that passion—combining health care and fashion.” Here, Dr. Fleming shares her dawn-to-dusk in the Bay Area.

8:15 a.m. Drink black Nespresso coffee while posting for @luminancevision’s Instagram.

8:45 a.m. Quick cardio + weights at home.

9:50 a.m. On my drive to work, I think of three things I’m grateful for and visualize three things to accomplish with my day.

10:05 a.m. Arrive at LVO and powwow with my staff.

10:18 a.m. Begin exams. In between patients, I grab Thierry Lasry sunglasses and take outfit photos for @eyelikefashionblog’s Instagram.

1:26 p.m. Break for a salad and pay LVO bills.

1:45 p.m. Meet with eyewear representatives and select frames to stock.

2:17 p.m. Resume seeing patients.

5:48 p.m. Touch base with staff, finish patient charts, and reply to emails.

7:15 p.m. Head to San Francisco to meet friends for dinner or attend entrepreneurial meetings.

11:48 p.m. Lights out + recharge.
