ZEISS
BlueGuard Lenses
Zeiss unveils BlueGuard, a new clear lens that blocks 40% of potentially harmful blue light while also providing sunglass-level UV protection, shares the company.
Unlike a coating, the blue-light-blocking properties are built directly into the BlueGuard lens, a feature that, according to Zeiss, results in up to 50% less reflection of digital blue light compared with coating products—for both fashionable and functional protection.
Zeiss BlueGuard lenses are available on single-vision and Zeiss designs in 1.50, polycarbonate, 1.60, 1.67, 1.74, and Trivex.
ALCON
Total30 Monthly Replacement
Alcon introduces Total30, the newest contact lens to its water gradient family, designed for reusable lens wearers.
“In my experience, some reusable contact lens wearers think discomfort is the norm with lenses and attribute this to the 30-day wear cycle,” says Pamela Lowe, O.D., of Professional Eye Care Center.
Total30 removes this “comfort compromise,” introducing new biomimetic Celligent technology to help resist bacteria and lipid deposits. Alcon data reveals that Total30’s inherently lubricious surface is as soft as the human cornea for supreme comfort all month long.
COBURN TECHNOLOGIES
Agility Autodeblocker and Integrity Alloy Recovery System
Serving as a completion of its automated post-polishing line, Coburn introduces the Agility autodeblocker and Integrity alloy recovery system.
Agility is an automatic, waterless lens deblocker that is capable of deblocking more than 200 lenses per hour, shares Coburn. Separated lenses and blocks are passed on to the Integrity alloy recovery system by conveyor.
The Integrity system “offers an automated, efficient, and environmentally friendly alternative for alloy recovery,” says Coburn president Alex Incera.
