ESSILOR
Varilux XR
Essilor has announced its latest innovation, the Varilux XR series—eye-responsive progressive lenses powered by behavioral artificial intelligence.
According to the company, researchers from EssilorLuxottica studied the lifestyles and visual challenges of more than 6,500 individuals with presbyopia, gathering more than 1 million data points to develop Varilux’s behavioral modeling system, which predicts how people with presbyopia will look at objects around them.
According to Essilor, Varilux XR provides instant sharpness, including while in motion, with up to 49% more vision volume compared with the Varilux X series.
The progressive lenses are scheduled for availability in the U.S. this summer.
COOPERVISION
MyDay Energys
CooperVision’s MyDay Energys contact lenses are now available for eyecare professionals in the U.S.
According to the company, MyDay Energys combines CooperVision’s DigitalBoost aspheric design and Aquaform material technology to provide comfort and aid symptoms of digital eyestrain such as tiredness and dryness. The DigitalBoost single-vision aspheric design features a +0.3D enhancement intended to ease the strain on eye muscles, enabling easier focus shifting from screen to off-screen, and the Aquaform Technology hydrates the lenses to twice their weight in water for natural wettability, even during times of reduced blinking, shares CooperVision.
Designed with built-in 86% of UVA and 97% of UVB blocking, MyDay Energys is available in sphere powers of +8.00D to -12.00D (0.50D steps after +5.00D and -6.00D). coopervision.com
