Shamir has expanded its Shamir Lens Designs to include NuPolar 1.74 Polarized in brown and gray.

According to Shamir, horizontal scattered light causes blinding glare, and the only way to block this is with polarized lenses with a horizontal absorption axis. This absorbs the horizontally polarized portion of light, thus eliminating glare and allowing only information-carrying light to pass through, Shamir shares.

Additionally, the NuPolar 1.74 Polarized lenses provide enhanced visual acuity, color contrast, and visual comfort while blocking 100% of harmful UVA (315-380 nm) and UVB (280-315 nm), according to the company. shamir.com

Younger Optics has released its Transitions Drivewear polarized sunwear lenses in a high-index 1.67 material.

Designed to change color and darkness behind the windshield, Transitions Drivewear utilizes a photochromic dye blend developed specifically to enhance vision in varying daylight conditions, according to the company. Additionally, Younger Optics shares that the lenses include its proprietary high-transmission NuPolar polarizing film, designed to block blinding glares encountered while driving at night.

Transitions Drivewear lenses are also available in hard-resin single vision, Trilogy single vision, plano, polycarbonate single vision, Camber digital, and Image progressive.

Elumentis LED Lamp

Eschenbach Optik of America Inc. has introduced the Elumentis LED Lamp designed to help those with low vision see better.

According to the company, the lamp allows users to select the optimal light color temperature and brightness level needed to maximize their viewing environment. The energy-efficient LEDs last up to 25,000 hours, Eschenbach Optik shares, and provide light in three different color temperatures: warm white, neutral white, and cool white.

The Elumentis LED lamp extends up to 21 inches tall and folds down to 2.5 inches. The lamp head tilts in several directions, and the lamp arm can be moved from the top and bottom joints. In addition to focused illumination, the lamp features an ambient light option.
