Daniel M. Miller, M.D., Ph.D., has joined Alcon as a member of the research and development team. Known in the ophthalmic community for his work as a fellowship-trained medical and surgical retina specialist, Dr. Miller will serve the team as its senior scientific adviser while remaining a partner at the Cincinnati Eye Institute and a chair of the medical executive board at Eyecare Partners.
▴ Johnson & Johnson Vision has announced three new regional presidents: Lori Tierney, president, Americas; Jacqueline Henderson, president, Europe, Middle East, and Africa; and Christoph Vonwiller, president, Asia Pacific. Tierney previously served as vice president of commercial operations for Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices North America, Henderson joined the company in 1996 and held various positions in sales and marketing leadership, and Vonwiller joined in 2005 and most recently served as vice president, metabolism commercial leader. Additionally, Carla Calizaire has been appointed vice president, North America sales, vision care. Most recently, she served as vice president and global leader of diversity, equity, and inclusion for Johnson & Johnson MedTech.
Nikki Earich has been appointed development director, North America, of Optometry Giving Sight, where she will be responsible for developing fundraising initiatives and strengthening partnerships with optometric practices, eyecare professionals, and other industry stakeholders. Most recently, Earich served as the director of development and fundraising at the District 75 STEAM Foundation.

ClearVision Optical has been recognized by the New York State Council of the Society of Human Resource Management, Best Companies Group, and Rochester Business Journal as one of the Best Companies to Work For in New York. This is the eighth time the company has earned this designation, and this year, it was ranked the 13th best in its category.
Vets Indexes has granted VSP Vision the Vets Indexes Four-Star Employer designation in the 2023 Vets Indexes Employer Awards to honor VSP Vision’s commitment to recruiting, hiring, retaining, developing, and supporting veterans and the military-connected community. The awards recognized 200 organizations with the following award levels: Five-Star Employer, Four-Star Employer, Three-Star Employer, and Recognized Employer.

The American Academy of Optometry has announced the recipients of the 2023 Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) Student Travel Fellowship Grants. Each of these five $750 travel fellowships provided funding for the following students to attend the ARVO meeting, which took place from April 23-27 in New Orleans: Matthew Keller, O.D., Indiana University, School of Optometry; Jacinth Priscilla Jacob Jayakumar, University of Houston, College of Optometry; Fatima Iqbal, O.D., MPhil FAAO, School of Optometry & Vision Science, University of New South Wales; Anh Bui, O.D., Ohio State University, College of Optometry; and Yvonne Adu-Agyeiwaah, O.D., University of Alabama at Birmingham, School of Optometry.
▴ Prevent Blindness has announced Ohio State University associate professor Dean A. VanNasdale Jr., O.D., Ph.D., as the recipient of the 2023 Jenny Pomeroy Award for Excellence in Vision and Public Health and Christina Ambrosino, medical student at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, as the recipient of the fourth annual Rising Visionary Award.
