Oct. 26, 2023 — The Optical Women’s Association (OWA) concluded its first-ever retreat, OWA Unplugged, which was held Oct. 20-22 in San Diego, CA, at the Paradise Point Resort. Sponsored by ClearVision Optical, the event hosted 40 OWA members to offer an opportunity to unplug and recharge.
 
The OWA Connection and Enrichment Committee suggested the idea of a retreat for members to expand and strengthen connections made through other programs like OWA’s Fireside Chats and One-Minute Inspirations.
 
Led by connection and enrichment committee members Kathy Cruz, Mary Lanning Jones, Linda Laube, Susan Ludwick, Debbie Myres, and Beverly Bianes, O.D., plus committee chairs Janna Neal and Tamara Sanders, the retreat began with a welcome reception followed by an in-person Fireside Chat. Saturday included yoga and Pilates, an OWA Reads book discussion, and a bonding event where personal stories were exchanged.
