April 12, 2023 — Transitions Optical has published a report to highlight this year’s trends in the optical industry, uncovered through in-depth conversations with Transitions Pro Forum members in the U.S. and Canada.
Here are some key takeaways from the trends described in the report:
Do more with every patient—understanding the impacts of the pandemic: As patients start to return to practices, they want different things. Therefore, eyecare professionals who offer personalized options to patients while also taking one-on-one time to explain the benefits of various products can build deeper connections with their patients.
Keep employees engaged—addressing needs with a people-first approach: To balance employee needs, ECPs need to shift from a patient-first approach to a people-first approach through increased recognition and professional development opportunities, in addition to offering space for work-life balance—ultimately benefiting both employees and patients.
Focus on community—making a difference hyperlocally: Physically and virtually engaging with their own communities—whether local, demographic, or related to a specific cause—has the potential to further business goals while strengthening internal team culture.
Keep an eye on a sustainable future—offering products to meet demands hyperlocally: Increasingly, consumers are willing to pay for environmentally responsible products. ECPs can benefit by building initiatives and programs around the sustainability factor.
Embrace a hybrid approach—connecting with patients online and off: Build both a good in-person and online experience for patients by utilizing innovations that allow ECPs to be with the patient every step of the way—from when they are first researching online to when they’re trying products on in store.
