After the event kicks off, be sure to follow EB on Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube for live action from the show floor, including key presentations and interviews with some of the eyecare professionals, celebrities, and executives who are working to shape the industry.
This year, the Innovation Stage will host the inaugural EYEnovate, an event that will offer an overview of the latest breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and more through a series of 15-minute presentations from the following companies: InflammX, Topology, Yolia Health, Myoptechs, and Eye-Go. A panel will judge the presentations and select one participant to receive the first-ever Ocular Horizons Award, which will be announced on Friday, Sept. 29. The panel includes Ashley Mills, TVC chief executive officer; James Rosin, co-president of Rosin Optical Co.; and Susy Yu, O.D., MBA, FAAO, director of business strategy and operations support for Vision Essentials by Kaiser Permanente Southern California Permanente Medical Group.
Another steadfast highlight of Vision Expo, the OptiCon General Session will feature a conversation with Rebecca Alexander, LCSW-R, MPH. Alexander was born with a rare genetic disorder, Usher syndrome (type 3), that would cause her to lose her eyesight by the age of 30. At age 19, a fall from a second-story window led her to lose her hearing as well. An author, psychotherapist, athlete, and advocate, Alexander shares inspiration for attendees to overcome their own obstacles.
Other program highlights include a conversation about the impacts of ChatGPT on the eyecare industry, a panel discussing the emerging business of over-the-counter hearing aids, and a conversation on addressing racial disparities within eye care.
