March 12, 2024 — The Vision Council (TVC) has announced the expansion of its membership structure to include health care, technology, and contact lens companies.
TVC explains the decision to include these rapidly growing industry sectors reflects the evolving optical industry. “Vision touches every part of life,” says TVC CEO Ashley Mills. “By embracing health care and technology companies, we broaden our collective strength, ensuring a more impactful voice and sustained success for all members."
As a nonprofit trade association, TVC’s mission is to ensure the economic growth of the industry and the success of its members, a goal that depends on the support of companies with the same mission. TVC explains that it “exists to represent any company, brand, or corporation whose business involves the manufacturing, distribution, or sale of optical products and services, and welcomes members from diverse segments of the industry.”
The organization’s new structure includes the following divisions of which members can choose one or more to engage with: contact lens, eyewear and accessories, health care, lab and lens processing technology, over the counter (sunglasses and readers), retail, and technology.
TVC provides members with a variety of tools and resources, guidance and analysis, and access to industry events and leadership opportunities. These offerings include the following:
