Aug. 22, 2024 — VSP Vision has announced the winner of its inaugural VSP Vision Innovation Challenge. RevitalVision, a digital health startup from Israel, earned the $10,000 grand prize for its noninvasive, algorithm-based technology that targets the brain's visual cortex to enhance eyesight neurologically.
The VSP Vision Innovation Challenge, co-hosted with health care incubator Matter, is a global competition designed to discover and support innovative solutions that improve the experiences of patients and providers in eye care.
Earlier this summer, five startups were selected to participate in a four-week boot camp where they received mentorship and resources to refine their innovations. The competition concluded with the Innovation Showcase, where the finalists pitched their ideas to a panel of judges and an audience of health care experts. The judges assessed each startup’s submission across five key categories: alignment and focus, novelty and originality, business model, company traction, and team readiness.
“Congratulations to RevitalVision on winning the VSP Vision Innovation Challenge. The judges were thoroughly impressed with your technology, and we cannot wait to see how the industry embraces this impactful vision care solution,” says VSP Vision Global Innovation Center senior director Ruth Yomtoubian.
RevitalVision's technology was selected by the judges for its potential to significantly improve vision care.
In addition to the grand prize, two other startups received $5,000 awards: Machine MD from Switzerland, recognized for its neuro-ophthalmoscope technology, and Lens2Recycle from California, which won the Audience’s Choice Award for its eco-friendly contact lens recycling solution.
