Runway Roundup
The top tends on tap for fall fashion
by Erinn Morgan
Fashion forges ahead of the recession for Fall 2009 with standout styles, ranging from hot pink and colorful prints to rich velvet and big-shoulder jackets—all ready for eyewear as an accessory.
RED & PINK
The new look is very femmes fatales, which is why the potent, strong colors of pink and red are at the forefront this season.
SCRUMPTIOUS VELVET
This luxurious fabrication is on-target this season. Prints and jewel tones are all the rage, including graphic patterns and canary.
THE EIGHTIES
An array of neon hues, cartoon paisley prints, sharp shoulder shapes, and short skirts and dresses are back. Black and shades of gray also come to the forefront.
PERFECT LEATHER PIECES
Skin is in this season, especially in patent or distressed looks, in the form of leather jackets and pants. This urban look brings street cred and biker style sharply back into focus.
MONOCHROME
Head-to-toe monotone looks fashioned within the same neutral color group. For men, greens, reds, and browns in multi-textures are on trend. For women, beiges, camels, and yellows all make the mark.
RETRO GLAM
Flapper style and Orientalism are resurrected from the '20s and surrealist glamour reared its head from the '30s. The '40s inspired austere elegance and silk, satin, and brocade bring out the cinematic opulence of the '50s. FB
