Performance-design company ROKA debuts with sunglass styles Phantom, Kona, and Vendée.
ROKA’s eyewear story took off with pro athlete Jesse Thomas, as he rocked the IRONMAN Lanzarote in Spain in May 2016 in ROKA’s Phantom model, taking home first place for the United States. The Phantom style is a performance aviator in titanium at a lightweight 20 grams.
Standout features of ROKA’s sun styles include patent-pending nose and temple GEKO Pad designs (inspired by biomimicry of gecko foot geometry), ZEISS lenses, and high-tech materials such as titanium. Lenses feature hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings for anti-spotting and easy cleaning.

Safilo Debuts Havaianas Eyewear With Fun Colors on Great Shapes
Havaianas Eyewear from Safilo debuts its first eyewear collection worldwide with new sunglass styles this season, following the avant-première of the line in Havaianas’ home country of Brazil in August 2016.
The first pair of Havaianas flip-flop sandals was created in 1962—with designs based off the rice straw soles of Japanese zōri sandals. Havaianas Eyewear’s new sunglass styles also feature the iconic rice pattern and rubber finishing found on the soles of Havaianas’ legendary flip-flops.
Five sunglass styles are offered in the launch. Rio, Paraty, Trancoso, and Noronha are named after famous Brazilian beach destinations, and the collection also includes special style Brasil, featuring colors of the Brazilian flag.
Materials include rubber, acetate, and polyamide, and frame sizes options including small, medium, and large. The range of shapes includes square, pilot, cat-eye, and panto, and lenses offer UVA/UVB protection in solid, gradient, and mirrored lens finishings.
The suggested retail price range is $58-$88.

Aston Martin Eyewear Launches in the U.S.
After signing an exclusive distribution agreement with Marma London, Mad Vision has launched Aston Martin Eyewear in the U.S. as a part of Aston Martin’s Art of Living luxury lifestyle goods concept.
Aston Martin, the British manufacturer of luxury sports cars, has more than a century of history under its belt, combining elements of “power, beauty, and soul” (the brand’s memorable slogan).
The Aston Martin Eyewear collection, part of Mad Vision’s development in the high-end men’s eyewear segment, showcases facets synonymous with the Aston Martin brand: attention to detail and the use of high-quality materials.
Handcrafted in Italy, the collection offers 13 optical styles and 17 sunglass styles in titanium and Mazzucchelli acetate. Polarizing, polarizing gradient, and 1.60 photochromic polarizing lenses are featured in the collection. All lenses feature backside multi-anti-reflective coating for added visual comfort.

Italia Independent Offers Customizable Eyewear Line
Italia Independent presents me, myself and eye, a distinctive line of eyewear using the innovative material Mdecor.
Italia Independent is the first company to market a line of eyewear using Mdecor, which is a sheet of polyurethane that delivers an ultra-thin and flexible frame material that is produced in collaboration with Mazzucchelli 1849.
According to Italia Independent, Mdecor achieves an “unprecedented” lightness and allows for rich colorways with 3D shading due to a cutting-edge production process that involves reproducing sheets of cellulose acetate.
Wearers can customize their style, as frames (fitted with flex lenses) allow for mixing and matching with exclusive front covers. Unisex models in round and square shapes are offered, in both sun and optical versions.

ClearVision Optical Launches Camera-Ready Styles
ClearVision Optical has partnered with PogoTec, a Roanoke, VA-based technology firm, to launch camera-ready eyewear featuring the PogoTrack wearable technology platform. The initial product offering is launching in ClearVision’s Ocean Pacific Collection with six optical styles and six sunglasses for both men and women.
Eyewear equipped with PogoTrack is designed to serve as a universal platform for a wide range of future electronic wearable devices. The first such device is PogoCam, which was unveiled at CES 2017 in Las Vegas.
PogoCam is the world’s smallest wearable camera that attaches to eyewear.
ClearVision’s new collection features PogoTrack’s wearable-technology platform, which allows wearers to attach a PogoCam device to the frame’s temple to capture photos or videos.
“ClearVision is committed to developing unique technological products in and around the world of eyewear,” says David Friedfeld, president of ClearVision Optical. “Our PogoTrack collection is one way we’re delivering on that commitment. FGX International Unveils Reading Glasses With BluePro Technology
FGX International introduces Polinelli, a collection of premium reading glasses featuring modern Italian styling and BluePro Technology, a patented lens coating that blocks approximately 30% of potentially harmful blue light. Polinelli readers also offer UV400 protection, as well as three layers of anti-reflective coating for enhanced visual clarity.

Cocoons Launches Computer Eyewear Fitovers
Cocoons, an eyewear brand known for its Fitover sunglasses designed to be worn over prescription eyewear, launches Cocoons Computer Vision Fitovers from Live Eyewear at International Vision Expo East this month.
The Fitover computer eyewear features Purify high-energy visible (HEV) blue-light-filtering lenses that can help alleviate digital eye strain. The Purify lens system blocks the HEV blue light coming from digital screens, providing relief from Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS), says the company.
Available in eight patented frame designs, the Fitovers also feature Flex2Fit adjustable temples, 360-degree of full wrap protection, and a smooth Soft Touch finish.
