CORNING X-SERIES LENSES These general purpose photochromic filters are for patients with beginning-to-moderate light sensitivity. Incorporating the same technology and design criteria of the Corning CFP GlareControl lenses, the X-Series filters are engineered to transmit more light at the blue end of the visible spectrum. The result is a filter that offers sharper contrast and a more cosmetically appealing, natural color scene. The lenses are available as a lightweight 1.5mm plano in any ophthalmic clip-on, and in a broad RX range, including SV, fused multifocals, and progressives (up to +3.00). A NUVISION Keeler Instruments, Inc.'s NuVision is a new head-mounted system that offers high magnification and image enhancement. The lightweight visor contains a miniature video camera and optical system. The camera projects an image onto two small screens on the inside of the visor, the equivalent of watching a 62" wide-screen TV from only six feet away. NuVision is compatible with computers, televisions, video cameras, and DVDs. The user can easily switch between color and b&w. PDI'S THE SMARTVIEW Pulse Data International (PDI)'s SmartView product line consists of desktop 14" or 20" B/W or full color stand-alone models and a computer-compatible camera. The magnification camera, positioned over a movable platform, magnifies images up to 70 times their actual size. The user simply places the object to be viewed-a newspaper, medicine bottle, or checkbook, for example-on the platform and the object is immediately magnified and displayed on a viewing screen. ZEISS TELESCOPIC SPECTACLES Available exclusively from Vision Advantage, the Zeiss G1.8 Telescopic Spectacles feature a Galilean design and magnification of 1.8x. The spectacles are used monocularly or binocularly in order to magnify objects in the distance and are convertible to a teleloupe system with the attachment of clip-on lenses for mid- or near-point vision. The appropriate magnification allows the reader to identify close objects and to read standard print.
