Spring Time
AIT Industries, in cooperation with DB Optic of France, has introduced the StopFlex Tool designed to make replacing spring-hinge screws faster and more efficient. The patented design allows users to change a spring-hinge screw without damage to the hinge or frame, and works effectively for all frames in the marketplace, according to company representatives. StopFlex market trials demonstrated ease-of-use, time saving, and the ability to easily handle walk-in repairs. For more information and a video demonstration of StopFlex, visit www.aitindustries.com.

SPECTACLE LENSES
Polarized Power
PPG Industries, Inc., International Polarizer has introduced two new colors to its line of sunglass polarizers. The colors feature the darkest tint possible within industry standards, combined with International Polarizer's high polarizing efficiency and UV 400 protection. The new colors, dark and medium green, expand the range of colors to 12. Tints were developed in response to increased demand for darker tinted polarized lenses with lower transmission. Lenses can be easily fabricated by cutting the polarizer to the desired shape and thermoforming it to the lens curvature. For more information, visit www.ppgopticalproducts.com.
Trilogy Expands
Younger Optics has expanded the Trilogy product line with the introduction of spherical semi-finished single-vision (SFSV) clear hardcoated lenses. The new spherical SFSV Trilogy lens will complement Younger's aspheric SV offering already in the marketplace. Trilogy lenses are made with Trivex material by PPG Industries. They offer thinness and are lightweight with superior impact resistance and excellent optics. The lenses are ideal for rimless mounts. For more information, visit www.youngeroptics.com.

Equipment
On the Edge
Santinelli International recently debuted the ME-1000 DESIGN+ Multifunction Edger that features exclusive partial grooving and lens facet functions. These functions enable eyecare practitioners to expand, create, and customize rimless eyewear. The new machine is an upgrade of the company's ME-1000 edger. In this model, a 3-D simulation of the lens is provided on the unit's touch panel, conveying visual confirmation of the result prior to actual processing. The edger polishes, edges, grooves, drills, and applies a safety bevel. For more information, call 800-644-EDGE.
