CooperVision has made several shifts to its management structure. Notable changes include the promotions of: Thomas R. Shone to president, CooperVision U.S., Steve Reiman to vice president of strategic accounts, and Mark W. Bertolin to vice president of sales development and technology. Jeffrey A. McLean will continue in his role as president of the Americas, however, in addition to operations, McLean will now also oversee distribution and packaging throughout the United States, Canada, Latin America, Mexico, and South America. Amy Moore has been appointed product director for Kenmark Group. In her new position, Moore will be responsible for overseeing the concepts, design, and development of product and merchandising materials for several of the company's collections. She will work closely with various licensed brands on maintaining brand integrity through product and marketing materials. Moore joins the Kenmark Group from Colors In Optics, where she was the design director/product development. Framescape has announced the appointment of Marc Sandford to vice president of sales. Sandford will also continue in his role as vice president of product development and design. With his background in product development and sales and marketing, Sandford will combine innovative sales and product programs to accelerate brand awareness and increase company sales. Sandford began his career in the eyewear industry at Revo, where he helped promote advanced lens technology in fashion frames. |

Giro, an emerging brand in the sports eyewear category, has announced an exclusive partnership with Carl Zeiss Vision Sunlens. Carl Zeiss will supply a range of Zeiss Certified lenses as part of its commitment to support Giro's new line of sport performance sunglasses. Giro sunglasses were designed to improve comfort and stability during high-intensity activities like cycling. Giro designed every model to compliment the human face while also fitting with various helmet styles.

Eyecessorize, the Vision Council of America's (VCA) campaign to increase awareness about the fashion and lifestyle aspects of eyewear, has revitalized its brand with a new look. The VCA campaign now features an updated logo and a new website, reflecting a more fashion-forward image that offers consumer-friendly information. In total, the campaign has so far generated approximately 75 print and broadcast placements, reaching over 70 million consumers.
Eyemaginations, a provider of 3D education and marketing software, has announced its worldwide expansion with the opening of its international headquarters in Erlangen, Germany, which will be headed by Robert Habel, vice president of international sales and general manager of Eyemaginations Europe GmbH.
Ophthonix, Inc., has moved its headquarters to a new facility in Vista, Calif., to accommodate growth in business and operations. The new facility is more than double the previous space at Pacific Center Court, and will house both corporate offices and a much larger manufacturing operation.
Gerber Coburn has announced the sale of its Innovations lab software product to Ocuco, Inc., a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of Ocuco Ltd., a European ophthalmic software development company. Gerber Coburn will continue to sell and distribute the product globally. Ocuco Inc., has contracted with CC Systems to provide support and service of product in the Americas.

The Vision Care Institute, LLC, a Johnson & Johnson company, has donated eye equipment to help optimize the performance of the U.S. Olympic team. According to a survey conducted by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) on behalf of Johnson & Johnson and other USOC corporate partners, more than half of Olympic and Paralympic hopeful athletes and alum feel they could improve their performance by improving their vision.

Marchon Eyewear has announced that it will become a Platinum National Sponsor of Optometry Giving Sight in the United States. The sponsorship will initially be for a period of one year.
AWARDS
HOYA Vision Care, North America, has selected the winners of the "My Big Fat Greek HOYA Getaway" sweepstakes, the company's biggest giveaway ever. Forty ECPs and five distributor winners took an all-expense paid, nine-day getaway for two to Greece in October.

Dr. Moes Nasser, a Vision Source optometrist who practices in Humble, Willowbrook, and Houston, Texas, is the winner of a $2,000 travel grant from Optometry Giving Sight, which will fund his participation in a volunteer project team trip to Africa in 2008. He was one of 140 optometrists eligible to win the travel grant.

SECO International has announced the recipients of its 2007 Southern Council of Optometrists Clinical Excellence Awards, recognizing the academic achievements of students from SECO International affiliated colleges. Recipients are Haley S. Parker of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry; Tara Boyle from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and Cayce Davis of Southern College of Optometry, Memphis, Tenn.
