KBco, The Polarized Lens Company, has named David Ray vice president of sales. Ray is responsible for all domestic sales activity. Also, Chris Bailey has been promoted to director of marketing and product management at KBco. He will determine new product opportunities and see the products through their life cycles. Peg Achenbach, OD, has joined the VISTAKON Professional Development Group as senior director, professional and medical affairs. She will lead the company's medical affairs group and direct the team at The Vision Care Institute, LLC, a Johnson & Johnson Company. PixelOptics has announced the addition of Peter Zieman as director of European sales. He is responsible for developing a sales and distribution infrastructure to execute the introduction of PixelOptics' products across Europe. In addition, Clay Musslewhite was appointed director of marketing for PixelOptics. He will be responsible for PixelOptics' communication strategy, tactical execution, and product management worldwide. Transitions Optical, Inc., has announced three personnel changes. Connie Falvo, former sales director, Transitions, was appointed to the new position of director, external affairs. Falvo will represent Transitions in public affairs, advocacy, and managed vision care, and will lead the official marketing partnership with the PGA TOUR and Transitions Championship for Healthy Sight on a global level. Brian Hauser, former director, lens manufacturers, will take on an expanded role of director, lens manufacturer and trade channel sales. Hauser will focus on working with the sales team and leverage synergies between groups. Alex Louw, former director, national retail, will assume the new role of director, national retail and Canada. Louw's responsibilities will be extended to include driving sales and marketing initiatives across all channels in Canada. |

VISTAKON and the American Optometric Foundation (AOF) announced the recipients of the Vistakon Ezell fellowship program and AOF-Vistakon research grants. Fellowship recipients are Joe Phillips, University of Houston College of Optometry, and Lakshman Subbaraman, University of Waterloo College of Optometry, Canada. Research grant recipients Danielle M. Robertson, OD, PhD, and H. Dwight Cavanagh, MD, PhD together won a $25,000 grant; and Lyndon Jones, PhD, and Doerte Luensmann received a $10,000 grant.
Prevent Blindness America announced the winners of its first See America contest. Sharon Boswell of Lexington, Ky., won the grand prize of four airline tickets to any U.S. destination, and Phillip Roberts, also of Lexington, won two airline tickets.
Hoya Vision Care announced that Dr. Eli Ben-Moshe of San Diego, Calif., won an all-expense paid trip to Spain in the company's "Splendor of Spain" drawing at International Vision Expo West.
