New W.A.V.E. in Single Vision

Essilor of America has introduced Essilor 360°, a single vision lens with Essilor�s breakthrough W.A.V.E. Technology (Wavefront Advanced Vision Enhancement). The design offers clear vision through removal of lens aberrations. Essilor 360° single vision lenses also feature full backside optimization with Point-by-Point Prescription Mapping to create an aspheric backside surface optimized for each Rx. The result is a wider field of vision, sharper vision throughout the lens, increased contrast sensitivity, better clarity in low light conditions, and the ability to see more vivid colors and details, especially for patients with an Rx above +/-3.00D sphere and/or -1.00D cylinder. The lenses are available in the Crizal AR treatment of choice. Product availability includes: Thin&Lite 1.74, -14.00 to +10.00D, cyl. to -6.00D; Thin&Lite 1.67, -13.00 to +8.00D, cyl. to -4.00D; and polycarbonate -10.00 to +8.00D, cyl. to -4.00D. Company representatives also note that Bifocal Essilor 360° offers 360° Digital Surfacing to optimize lens performance for each individual Rx.

Younger Optics' NuPolar lens line now includes NuPolar Flat Top 28 polycarbonate. The polarized lenses feature an exclusive 8 base offering, resulting in a wider Rx range that's ideal for wrap frames. Shamir Insight's Genesis standard polycarbonate lens has been upgraded to PolyPlus (Hard Coat-HC) material. The lenses are manufactured utilizing the latest in energy/ecological saving production technologies and highest quality control. Combining light weight with high impact resistance, PolyPlus is also birefringence-free and water-white clear.

Pure AR

Carl Zeiss Vision has introduced PureCoat AR, now available for Zeiss, Sola, AO, and other lenses (more than 400 substrates). PureCoat features pure clarity with 99 percent luminous transmittance for nearly reflection-free, crisper vision; convenience with an anti-static technology that resists smudges to keep lenses cleaner longer; and durability with abrasion resistance and long-lasting hydrophobic attributes, making lenses easy to clean. Independent testing by COLTS Laboratories shows that the surface retains 96 percent of its hydrophobic capabilities after the equivalent of two years of normal usage.
