Based on last year's success, Transitions Optical, Inc., will partner with Bess the Book Bus in 2011. Transitions will continue as the lead sponsor for the Bus' national tour, which will bring free books to children in need at schools, shelters, and after-school programs in underserved communities across the country.
ClearVision Optical hosted a reception, exhibit, and auction of paintings created by individuals with special needs at its Hauppauge headquarters last month. All of the proceeds raised at the ClearVision Optical for Art Angels Art Auction Fundraiser went to the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center's special needs programs.

Oakley, Inc., has announced that its 3D glasses have been granted official certification by RealD Inc. to be used in RealD cinemas.
VisionWeb has welcomed REM Eyewear to its network of suppliers. ECPs now have the ability to browse, order, and track frames from REM online through the VisionWeb portal.
Lighthouse International has introduced a new online training program designed to help healthcare professionals with visual impairment work more effectively with adults who have low vision or no vision. The course is made possible by a federal grant from The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research.

Pro Fit Optix (PFO) recently announced the expansion of its management team. Alan Yuster, one of the original founders of PFO, is the new executive vice president, international business development. Hoa Nguyen holds the newly created executive vice president of technology and operations position. Steve Brewer has been named executive vice president, national accounts/vision insurance programs. Briot USA has announced the appointment of Andrew Bumerts and Robert Wallner as regional sales managers. Bumerts will be responsible for driving sales efforts in the western region of the U.S., and Wallner will oversee the eastern region. VSP Vision Care has appointed Cecil Swamidoss to the position of director of federal policy. In his new role, Swamidoss will develop and implement VSP's federal lobbying efforts. Rebecca Barnett-Miesch, former director of strategic partnerships at WebMD, is SoloHealth's new vice president of advertising sales.
